On May 2020 The Harborkeepers launched Vision Chelsea Creek, a 6-month long visioning, planning and engagement process to re-imagine the abandoned MBTA/MassDOT-owned railway site along the industrial shoreline of Lower Cheslea Creek in East Boston.
Aiming to solve for multiple coastal and urban challenges, this project is driven by a public-private partnership between The Harborkeepers and Cargo Ventures (a long-time Boston land owner, abutter, and primary funder), in collaboration with SCAPE Studio. The team is further supported by Utile, the Boston Society for Architecture and the Boston Society of Landscape Architects.
Through a transparent, open community and stakeholder engagement process, the Vision Chelsea Creek team worked together to design and develop a comprehensive vision for the site, inclusive of various needs and priorities, and building on existing waterfront and open space advocay; community aspirations; industry and maritime uses and the needs of multiple stakeholders.
